VBCA CLINIC SPEAKERS

STEVE HALE—Played in North Carolina 1982-1986, played for Coach Dean Smith, and played with Michael Jordan. 111 wins and 26 losses, reached NCAA Regional Final Four all 4 years, averaged double figures his junior and senior year. Steve is a doctor in Burlington.
DAN ENGELSTAD —Head coach Southern Vermont College men’s team. Will be entering his 4th season at SVC (65-18 78.3%). Last year SVC reached new heights as it captured is first ever NE Collegiate Conference Championship and earned a berth to the Division III NCAA tournament. Dan was selected once again as league coach of the year with his second straight 16-0 league record. He is the all-time winningest coach at SVC. Prior to SVC, Dan was the assistant for 3 years at Holy Cross and started his career at Mount St. Mary’s university as an assistant coach from 2007-2010. He is a 2007 graduate of St. Mary’s College (Maryland), was the team captain and graduated as the school’s all-time career assist leader.

BOB KURTZNER—Trainer at Southern Vermont College and Mt. Anthony Union High School. Long time indoor track and track and field coach at Mt. Anthony. Also a physical education instructor. 1975 graduate of Cortland with a Master’s Degree from Cortland in 1988. Worked as a trainer in Albany for professional and college athletes. Came to MAU in 1997. Bob helps athletes get the most out of their ability.


DAN SHEPPARDSON—Dan is a highly respected basketball official and rules interpreter.
Dan is always informative and well received clinic speaker.

DAVID MCLAUGHLIN—Head men’s coach of Dartmouth. Becomes the 28th head coach of the Big Green. Previously was associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Northeastern University. Was head coach at Division II Stonehill College going 189-99 in his 9 seasons there. Six times Stonehill won at least 20 games, qualified for the NCAA Tournament 5 times, twice winning the East Regional Championship and advancing to the Division II Final Four twice and was in the top 10 national rankings for 4 years. Stonehill was 11-45 in the two years before he took over. McLaughlin was a 4-year letter winner at Colby graduating in 1997.
